2020, the perfect year to talk about perfect vision right? As we head into this new decade, I found it necessary to see what God’s word says about vision and how I can apply it to my life.
I want to ensure that my 2020 vision is aligned with God’s vision so that I can move forward with purpose.
As I focus on my vision for the future, these scriptures are helping me refine and refocus. I pray they help you too.

Ensure God’s vision is aligned with our vision.
In order to do this, we must ask ourselves, “What assignment has God given me?” I believe we all have a purpose and God will put that assignment on our hearts. In seeking his face, he reveals to us what he wants to do with our time on earth.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Jeremiah 28:11-13 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”
We also must be careful to not look for selfish gains. Money and popularity can’t be the motive. Now, I’m not saying don’t put yourself out there and don’t get paid. Everybody’s got bills and has to make a living, but that can’t be what rules over us. When money and fame become the number one priority, you no longer give God the chance to rule. We can’t make decisions and center our vision around being applauded by others. Instead, we have to allow the fruits of our vision to give God the glory.
Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Faith Over Fear
This is the biggest thing for me! Choose faith over fear. The vision that God gives us is often VERY scary. Maybe it’s something that people will question. Or it may be something that’s never been done before. Maybe it doesn’t make sense. Whatever it is, it will require you to put your full trust in God’s power.

Two things I always tell myself when faced with fear: Don’t make decisions based off fear and don’t let fear rule over you. Just take one step at a time. God will give you the next step.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Preparation is Key
We have to prepare for it all. Get everything in order to take those steps God has given you. Preparation may look like finding better ways to manage your time, or taking a course. It may be building your knowledge through books. Visions don’t just happen. We have to take the necessary steps in order to see our 2020 vision through.
Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Let’s Talk About Commitment
Commit to God first and commit to your vision. Keep going. Don’t give up. Period! In one of his parables, Jesus reminds us that there are times when we have to be faithful with a little before God will give us an increase.
Matthew 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
We know there will be distractions and discouraging moments, but we have to stay committed.
This is where educating yourself comes in. Read books that expand your knowledge. Join groups that align with your purpose. Pray, read the Bible, and lean on God. Spending time with God will help you get through these moments.
Galations 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Hebrews 10:36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
