As educators, we hold one of the most important jobs in the world, teaching and molding children. As we teach our students, we must not neglect our own growth and development. Extend Beyond Borders a resource to help you get the most out of your teaching career and life in general.
There are 3 main goals of Extend Beyond Borders:
It is my goal for teachers to have access to reading curriculum that is inclusive of a wide range of cultures. Whether you have a diverse classroom or not, it is essential that you expose your students to different cultures. I know as teachers, we don’t always have the time to create these types of resources. Here you will be able to find literacy resources for teaching reading beyond borders.
One way to begin to understand another culture is to travel. I want to share with you affordable ways to travel on a teacher’s salary and also how to be an intentional traveler. How can you use your traveling experiences to become a better teacher? How can your travels impact your students and your life? You’ll find that here!
When God leads you to a purpose that’s out of your comfort zone, it can be pretty daunting. I’m logistical, a realist, and a planner. I like to be in control. While those aren’t necessarily negative traits, they are traits that keep me from truly trusting God with my life. We all struggle with things that keeps us from fully trusting God, but I don’t want to limit God to what he will do in my life and I don’t want you to either. Let’s learn to trust God without limits; let’s have faith beyond borders!
Let’s Extend Beyond Borders!
As an educator, I consider myself a life-long learner and I would love for other like-minded educators to join me on this journey.
I’m not an expert educator, I just have a passion for getting students to become readers and using a culturally relevant curriculum.
I’m not an expert traveler, I just love immersing myself in another culture and trying to make sense of this world we live in.
I’m not an expert theologian, I just know life is better when you have a relationship with God and fully trust Him with your life.
As I help myself, I want to help you teach beyond what is the normal curriculum and ensure that your books and lessons are culturally diverse. I want to help you travel on a teacher’s budget and experience life outside of your hometown. I want to encourage you to be led by God, and not to limit Him.
I want you to Extend Beyond Borders. Let’s go!!
